Is The Bull Market Back, Or Is It A Trap?

I wish I had a more definitive answer for you this week, but the market is standing at the proverbial “crossroads” of bull and bear.

Many people online are engaging in heated debate over a bible verse that some argue is a direct reference to the recent string of violent earthquakes in Japan and Ecuador, the subsequent volcano eruption, and even the mysterious “earthquake foam” flooding Japanese streets. The bible verse in question is Psalm 46:3, and reads as follows: …Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.

Several weeks ago, Morgan Stanley's Adam Parker was comparing rally chasers to cockroaches (not so much due to their outward appearance or intellectual capacity but because of their desire to survive no matter where the next market nuke will blow up). Today, in his Sunday Note, the Morgan Stanley strategist appears to have a mini breakdown while slamming faux "original thinkers" who pretend to be contrarians, while merely perpetuating the status quo, and are "indistinguishable from consensus." To wit:

Police have raided a private hospital in central India where unwanted newborns were sold and swapped for £1,000. The babies, born out of rape or wedlock were being delivered at a private hospital and then sold for adoption police said. Metro reports: Two of the babies have now been rescued by police from the 30-bed Palash Hospital in the Gwalior district. Prateek Kumar, from the ASP crime branch, told Times of India: ‘Three others have been sold to childless couples in Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh’.

The devastating set of huge earthquakes that struck Japan last week is having an unexplained side effect: copious amounts of a mysterious foam-like substance is covering the streets.
