"Chicago Is A War Zone": Police Suicide Rate Surges To 60% Above The National Average

During his early days on the force, 30-year-old, rookie Chicago police officer, Scott Tracz, was described by colleagues as an "upbeat" cop who had always dreamed of becoming a police officer to help people in his city.  That is, until he sat in a black sports car outside his girlfriend's suburban house late last year, put his gun to his head and took his own life.  Per Reuters:

It appears Newt Gingrich was right in his outrage at the hypocrisy surrounding the kidnapping and abuse of a mentally-ill white teen by four young black assailants. Despite the suspects shouting "fuck Donald Trump" and "fuck white people", Chicago police said today that they do not believe the attack was motivated by race, more likely due to his "special needs."

Over the weekend we reported some shocking gun crime statistics in Chicago: according to a CNN report, gun violence in the windy city is on track to post its worst year in the 21st century, the result of an unprecedented surge in gun deaths in the first three months of the year.  By March 31, 141 people had been killed. Last Thursday, eight were shot and two of them died in one hour alone, Chicago Police said.
