Over the years I have heard the word “tribalism” used consistently as a way to deride and attack conservative groups with political stances outside the boundaries of globalization. Many readers have been exposed to this propaganda recently as “tribalism” becomes the go-to denouncement of the Trump Administration. From The Atlantic to CNBC to The Washington Post and beyond, tribalism is used almost as often as the fascist label, and there are very specific reasons for this.

Turkey claims that a holy war “to end all holy wars” will soon begin in Europe following the defeat of far-right leader Geert Wilders in the Netherlands elections. Turkey’s foreign minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said he did not welcome the victory for Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s centre-right People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). “Now the election is over in the Netherlands…when you look at the many parties you see there is no difference between the social democrats and fascist Wilders,” he said. “All have the same mentality. Where will you go? Where are you taking Europe?

Ten people, including members of a BBC film crew, were injured following a huge and unexpected volcanic blast on Europe’s most active volcano, Mount Etna. The violent explosion caught the crew off guard as they were filming a report on the volcano. BBC correspondent Rebecca Morelle described the incident as “extremely scary” saying that it caused injuries and evacuation from scene. Bbc team all ok – some cuts/ bruises and burns. Very shaken though – it was extremely scary.

It seems Yellen's desperate attempt to tell the world that the US economy is doing fantastic BUT not well enough to raise rate more than 3 times appears to have let stocks hope down. Combine that with ECB comments and uncertainty over Trump's budget and the political 'put' rallied as stocks sank...

We're gonna need some more hawkish jawboning - as economic growth expectations collapse - to rescue this one...
