The FBI admits keeping tabs on the late American boxing legend Muhammad Ali after he converted to Islam and stood up to warmongers and racists during the 1960s. New documents made public by the FBI show that Ali’s ex-wife was treated as a “lead” during his divorce in 1966 as part of a larger investigation by the agency into the Nation of Islam. Sputnik reports: The 140 documents, some of which contain classified information, were released as a result of a lawsuit brought by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog organization.

The U.S. army has deployed tanks and military personnel to Europe amid mounting fears of a war with Russia following accusations that they influenced the U.S. election.  Following Obama’s announcement that he would take “action” against Russia for interfering in the election, the U.S. army were ordered to send tanks to a Cold War site in the Netherlands in preparation for a potential conflict. Theantimedia.org reports: The U.S. and Dutch military reopened the Eygelshoven site on Thursday.

FBI director James Comey has announced his support for the CIA’s conclusion that Russia intervened in the U.S. election to help Donald Trump get elected.  The announcement makes a drastic u-turn from the FBI’s previous announcement that Russia had nothing to do with hacking the election.

We’re shut out now. There hasn’t been an op-ed in The New York Times or Washington Post editorial pages arguing that the United States is at least equally to blame for this new Cold War crisis. They simply will not accept those articles…So this is the problem. In a democracy we fight through discourse. If you can’t get to the mainstream media  and make the argument, then there’s no way of slowing the drift toward catastrophe.

225 years ago today, the first ten amendments were added to the new Constitution of 1787. Those amendments have come to be known as the Bill of Rights, and taken as a whole, these amendments represent what can only be described as one of the few parts of the Constitution worth applauding today.
