Armed French and Belgian police are involved in a major operation in Brussels after gunmen wounded four officers during a raid on Tuesday. A manhunt is under way on the streets of Forest district after shots were fired in a raid related to November’s Paris terror attacks. ITV reports: Two suspects in the raids in Brussels are still at large after one was “neutralised”, local media has reported.

• Hans-Georg Maaßen, the head of Germany's domestic intelligence agency (BfV), warned that the Islamic State was deliberately planting jihadists among the refugees flowing into Europe, and reported that the number of Salafists in Germany has now risen to 7,900. This is up from 7,000 in 2014 and 5,500 in 2013.

With Trump preparing to steamroll the competition in today's all important primaries, where a victory in Florida is now all but assured and only a Kasich challenge in Ohio can potentially spoil the day for the Donald - if Trump wins Florida and Ohio, it's over - earlier today he got some more good news to propell him even further.

Well, it’s another "super" Tuesday, and that must mean Donald Trump is angling to move even closer to the GOP nomination, an outcome that’s horrified the establishment and seemed so remote just nine months ago as to be laughable.

But the only one laughing now is Trump, and boy, oh boy is he laughing hard.
