A New York Times reporter has come under fire after joking about how a Donald Trump assassination could bring Trump’s presidential campaign to an abrupt end. Columnist Ross Douthat tweeted a link to a video featuring an assassin gunning down a political figure, saying: “Good news guys I’ve figured out how the Trump campaign ends“. The tweet embeds a video clip from the 1983 movie The Dead Zone, featuring an assassin played by actor Christopher Walken attempting to gun down a political figure played by Martin Sheen.
