It's pretty obvious what Google is trying to do here. After the Wall Street Journal began routing out Nazis on YouTube, in an effort to get ads scrubbed from their videos, a massive overhaul of YouTube's advertising policies began, shortly thereafter. It was incredible, really, as if Google was simply waiting for an excuse.
Last Thursday, when AMZN stock - currently trading at some ridiculous four or more digit P/E multiple - made its latest spurt higher, we reported that as a result of the move, Jeff Bezos was now richer than Warren Buffett and fast approaching Bill Gates.
While not surprising - her departure had been floated previously - moments ago ReCode confirmed that Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer "will not be continuing with the new company that was announced today prematurely in a tweet by AOL CEO Tim Armstrong today."
Perhaps what is more surprising is the name of said pro forma company, which according to Kara Swisher will be called "Oath", and will be headed by Armstrong.
What a difference a year makes: not that long after Apple was considering the acquisition of Imagination Technologies, overnight the shares of the UK-based chip designer imploded, crashing as much as 69% after the company announced Apple - its largest customer which accounts for half of its revenue - will stop using its intellectual property in new products, setting the stage for a clash with its biggest customer.
