Queen Elizabeth’s former personal doctor, Sir Richard Thompson, has publicly slammed Big Pharma for what he calls their “criminal acts” in telling the public that their drugs are safe and effective whilst having zero evidence to support their dubious claims. Thompson was Queen Elizabeth II’s doctor for over 20 years, as well as the former-President of the Royal College of Physicians. According to an article in the Daily Mail he has publicly condemned pharmaceutical companies for making huge profits over the health of the public: Sir Richard said: ‘The time has come for a full and open public enquiry into the way evidence of the efficacy of drugs is obtained and revealed. ‘There is real danger that some current drug treatments are much less effective than had previously been thought.’ He said the campaign highlights the ‘often weak and sometimes murky basis on which the efficacy and use of drugs, particularly in the elderly, are judged’.
