The Army has decided to abandon plans to issue waivers to recruits with a history of self-mutilation or other mental health problems.
Since the beginning of the year, much ink has been spilled about the Army’s increasingly desperate attempts to fill its lofty recruiting quota for fiscal year 2017-2018: That is, 80,000 new soldiers. To hit that number, the Army has repeatedly loosened its recruiting requirements. Last month, the military introduced a new policy that would forgive recruits with a history of marijuana use or certain marijuana related criminal violations...
Many questions about the circumstances surrounding the death of Sergeant La David Johnson remain unanswered, but in a surprising Sunday-afternoon bombshell, the New York Times reported that Navy criminal authorities are investigating whether two members of the Navy’s elite Seal Team 6 strangled to death an Army Green beret on assignment in Mali in June.
