A 23-year-old Ukrainian immigrant to the U.S. with an expired visa, who for several years masqueraded as a high school student was arrested by police in Pennsylvania. Artur Samarin assumed the identity of Asher Potts and became a high-flying US high school pupil after his visa expired in 2012. The Evening Standard reports: He had somehow obtained social security documents and a drivers’ licence, according to police in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has been charged with theft, identity theft, and tampering with public records, Pennlive.com reported.

When last we looked at the effect America’s multiple state and local government fiscal crises are having on the country’s school systems, we noted that budget drama across both Illinois and Pennsylvania threatened to force layoffs and class cancellations.

Professor Patrick Deneen of Notre Dame has criticised the indoctrination of our children into a New World Order.  “Our students’ ignorance is not a failing of the educational system – it is its crowning achievement. Efforts by several generations of philosophers and reformers and public policy experts — whom our students (and most of us) know nothing about — have combined to produce a generation of know-nothings,” Deneen explains.

Free college sounds terrific. Bernie Sanders has made it a central theme of his campaign. It was once the norm at our best public universities. They still do it in Germany and other European countries. Why not make American great again by eliminating increasingly burdensome tuition and other fees?
