All my Catholic academic friends are infuriated by what’s happening at Mount St. Mary’s, a small Catholic liberal arts college in Emmitsburg, Md. Former TAC blogger John Schwenkler, who once taught philosophy there, tells the shocking tale. Excerpt:
A French comedian has come under fire on Twitter after appearing in a state-sponsored propaganda video aimed at discrediting conspiracy theories. Kevin Razy appeared in a video that claims ‘dangerous’ conspiracy theories have mushroomed since the Paris attacks. In the video Razy makes fun of young conspiracy theorists who believe the Paris attacks were secretly orchestrated by the government.
Ministers have withdrawn the funding which enabled smaller infant schools to provide children with free hot meals, claiming the measures were “always temporary.” Special cash grants for nearly 3,000 schools will end without being renewed next month The funding had been a help to infant schools with fewer than 150 pupils, many in rural areas, because their small size meant they could not buy bulk food cheaply enough to fit their budgets.
A reader calling himself PomoProf writes about the interview with Jon Haidt, in which Haidt talks about how the left-wing culture within universities is destroying them:
Late last month, we reported that Austria may cut social benefits for asylum seekers who fail to attend “special integration training courses” and more specifically, for refugees who don’t make an honest effort to learn German.
“Those who are not willing to learn German, who do not want to be part of the labor market, who are not ready to attend an integration course, will face social benefits cuts,” Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz said in Davos.
