State Of Emergency As Tropical Storm Colin Makes Landfall in Florida

The governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency in 34 of the state’s 67 counties, as Tropical Storm Colin made landfall in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Governor Rick Scott said the state’s National Guard is ready to deploy up to 6,000 personnel to areas affected by the hurricane. The storm hit land near the Big Bend area about 2 a.m. Tuesday with 50 mph winds, flooding roads and knocking out power to thousands. Press TV reports: Colin approached Florida from the southeast, knocking down power lines and trees in the Tampa Bay area and dumping up to 16 centimeters of rain.

Man Stranded In Open Water Fights Off Sharks

A Florida man found himself alone and stranded in the Atlantic Ocean having to fend off sharks. Randy Fales got separated from his boat while spear fishing in Florida and found himself in open water with sharks and a GoPro camera capturing the event. Metro reports: The 68-year-old was spear fishing in Florida next to a boat his family were sat in, when a line became detached and they drifted apart.

Sandy Hook Professor Sues College Insisting ‘Shooting Was A Hoax’

A disgraced former professor from the Florida Atlantic University is suing the university after they fired him for telling students that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting “was fake”. James Tracy claims his right to free speech was violated by the university, after they sacked him for promoting the Sandy Hook hoax theory. Tracy, an associate professor, filed the lawsuit on Monday, challenging the university’s “conflict of interest/outside activities” policy.
