France's Macron Covers For Saudi Aggression

France’s invitation to beleaguered Lebanese premier Saad Hariri for him and his family to spend “a few days in Paris” has been viewed as French President Emmanuel Macron stepping in with deft soft power to resolve tensions between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.

Less charitably, what Macron is really doing is giving cynical cover to the Saudi rulers for their extraordinary acts of aggression towards Lebanon and their violation of that country’s sovereignty.

WSJ Reports That Trump Won't Withdraw From Paris Deal, White House Denies

Update: it took about 10 minutes for the White House to deny the WSJ report, with the NYT and Bloomberg reporting that a White House spokesman has denied the WSJ story claiming US might stay in Paris accords, saying "position hasn't changed."  Bloomberg confirms the White House comment, stating that there is "no change" in the US position on the Paris Deal, and that US will withdraw unless presented with "more favorable terms."

1 Dead, 8 Injured As Car Rams Into Pizzeria In Paris; Driver Arrested As Police Confirm ‘Not Terror Related’

Update 1: According to BBC and RTL radio, the driver of the BMW that to plowed into a pizzeria just east of Paris was a 39-year-old male who told police he had wanted to kill himself and had weapons in his car. Police have not named the man or said where he is from.  He gave an immediate statement to police and officers ruled out terrorism. Investigators said they believed the incident was "deliberate... but apparently has no connection with a terrorist act".
