Millions of pounds worth of British aid to war stricken Syria may have ended up in the hands of ISIS, according to a Government report. The revelation was made in a December report by the Department for International Development (DFID), a British government institution responsible for administering foreign spending According to the Mail Online, the DFID admits that ‘the most serious risk’ to its programmes in the war-torn country is ‘from the large scale diversion of aid, including for the purposes of terrorism’. Officials say that aid may have been diverted, possibly to the Islamic State. The UK government has long been providing military and financial aid to the so-called “moderate” militants operating to topple the government in Syria over the past five years.
