Cliff Richard Faces Child Abuse Charges

Sir Cliff Richard will soon learn if he is to face criminal charges over historic sex allegations in a matter of weeks, as police hand over an 18-month investigation to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).  The 75-year-old singer has denied allegations that he abused young boys in the early 1980’s. Police officers raided the singers home in Sunningdale, Berks, in August 2014 and then quizzed him over allegations that he sexually abused a teenage boy at a concert in 1985. thesun.co.uk reports: He was quizzed again last November over two new claims, including an alleged assault of a boy while filming a video in 1981. Sir Cliff has barely returned to his British home since the raid, spending most of his time in Portugal and Barbados. Anti-sex abuse campaigner Mark William-Thomas said: “The file is expected to go to the Crown Prosecution Service within the next eight weeks.” A source close to the investigation said: “Police are still pursuing lines of enquiry from the interview with Sir Cliff in November.” Spokesmen for Sir Cliff and South Yorks Police would not comment.
