For decades the US and Saudi Arabia have shared a peculiar relationship: the Saudis sell relatively cheap oil to the United States for which they accept our fiat currency. They then recycle those paper dollars into the US military-industrial complex through the purchase of billions of dollars worth of military equipment, and the US guarantees the security of the Saudi monarchy.
In no place in America are the abrupt changes in the nation’s security posture so keenly reflected in real estate and lifestyle than the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In the decade after 9/11, it has grown into a sprawling, pretentious representation of the federal government’s growth, vices and prosperity, encompassing the wealthiest counties, the best schools, and some of the highest rates of income inequality in the country.
Following Obama's stunning foray into UK politics with his anti-Brexit oped (which surprised both the pro and anti-Brexit camp as there was little to be gained from Obama's gracious entrance of an elephant in a UK political China store) on Thursday evening, one person who had a rather visceral reaction was London Mayor Boris Johnson who slammed Obama's "hypocritical" Brexit diatribe and accused Obama "ancestral dislike of the British empire – of which Churchill had been such a fervent defender" on being part-Kenyan.
As Donald Trump continues his march toward the Republican presidential nomination, he is faced with the possibility that he may have to ultimately weather a brokered convention in Cleveland this July in order to finally secure it.
Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island all hold primaries on Tuesday, and all will go a long way in determining whether or not Trump can get to the magic number of 1,237 (delegates needed to win the nomination outright). The key to the Trump nomination, however, may hinge upon how he does in the state of Pennsylvania.
