When Gen. Michael Flynn was forced to resign as national security adviser, Bill Kristol purred his satisfaction, “If it comes to it, prefer the deep state to the Trump state.”

To Kristol, the permanent regime, not the elected president and his government, is the real defender and rightful repository of our liberties.

Yet it was this regime, the deep state, that carried out what Eli Lake of Bloomberg calls “The Political Assassination of Michael Flynn.”

The Women’s March organizers are back at it. They now promote a general strike on the sexist theme of “A Day Without a Woman“.

A quick perusal of Women’s March tweets shows a cornucopia of thoughts and retweets by the organization on blacks, gays, transgenders, the EPA, Standing Rock, planned parenthood, living wages, mass immigration, and of course Donald Trump.

Two days after the Pentagon's new chief Jim Mattis appeared before a full conference room in Brussels, and issued an ultimatum to NATO to boost spending or risk a cut in US support, Germany's Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen "fired a salvo of warnings" back at Washington, cautioning it against hurting European cohesion, abandoning core Western values and seeking a rapprochement with Russia behind the backs of its allies.

Trump did not cause the deep division in the country. It caused him. There are two very different Americas. I suspect  that the half of the country that voted for Trump, that voted with wild enthusiasm, that roared at huge rallies, was not so  much voting for Trump as against the other America. It was just that they had never had a chance before. The two countries have little in common and do not belong on the same geography.

Charlier Munger, the 93 year old billionaire vice chairman of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway who once said Trump was not "morally qualified" to be President, seems to be warming up to the new administration.  Well, at least he doesn't think Trump is quite as bad as Hitler anyway, which is a start.
