Today is the day.

It’s inauguration day for Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.

For half of you – it is the beginning of an economic resurgence last seen during the Reagan administration. It is the “best of times.”

For the other half – it is the beginning of the “dark ages.” 

So goes politics. But politics and investing are poor bedfellows.

Donald J. Trump takes the oath of office on Friday facing unprecedented opposition but also an extraordinary opportunity. He confronts the paradox of a country skeptical that he has the personal traits for the Presidency but still hopeful he can fulfill his promise to shake up a government that is increasingly powerful even as it fails to work.

President Trump Has Vowed To End ‘American Carnage’

Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 45th President of America and vowed to rebuild the country using “American hands” He promised that “American carnage stops right here and right now,”after taking the Oath of Office. During his inaugural address Trump painted a bleak vision of a country that he said was ravaged by rusted-out factories, crime, gangs and drugs. He indirectly blamed his White House predecessors for policies that helped Washington at the expense of struggling families. Trump said he plans to strip power away from Washington and give it “back to the people”.

Protests Turn Violent As Donald Trump Becomes President

Protesters were blasted with tear gas after violence erupted across Washington ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Black clad protesters tore through downtown Washington, smashing store and car windows and symbols of capitalist America. Windows from a Bank of America branch, a Starbucks and a McDonald’s restaurant were among the targets. There were clashes with police in riot gear who used flash grenades, tear gas and pepper spray to subdue and arrest members of the crowd. Journalists covering the protest were among those who were arrested.
