John Lydon Claims BBC Punished Him Over Savile Whistleblowing

Sex Pistols star John Lydon has claimed that BBC bosses ‘blacklisted’ him and the band from appearing on BBC shows after he exposed Jimmy Savile as being a Paedophile back in 1978.  Lydon gave an interview to Radio 1 in which he claimed Savile was a “hypocrite … into all kinds of seediness … that we’re not allowed to talk about“. The BBC subsequently shelved the Jimmy Savile claims by the Sex Pistol star, which later turned out to be true after hundreds of allegations of sexual abuse against the DJ came to light after Savile’s death in 2011.

#ChickenTrump: Donald Trump Backs Down From Sanders Debate

Twitter is pounding Donald Trump with the hashtag #ChickenTrump after the Republican presidential nominee refused to face Bernie Sanders in a debate. Sputnik reports: The plan for the debate began on Wednesday evening, when Trump appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! TV show. During the interview, Kimmel read a note from the Sanders campaign inviting Trump him to a debate in California. “That could happen, I’ve been saying that should happen anyway,” Trump said.

Why We Need Superheroes

You like superheroes.

I have friends who insist they don’t, picturing newsprint muscle-men in Mardis Gras outfits fighting villains with names like Doctor Atrocity and making little “BLAMMO!” signs when they punch. Those friends, though, inevitably turn out to like James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, or some other fictional hero doing things real people can’t do—superheroes in civvies. Every culture has stories like this; our forebears told them around campfires or mead-halls, 20th-century kids read them in comic books.

Tower Block Dystopia

The xkcd cartoon “Logic Boat” shows the familiar problem of the man who has to carry a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage across a river. The problem: “The boat only holds two, and you can’t leave the goat with the cabbage or the wolf with the goat.”

There’s a logic-puzzle solution here. There’s also the xkcd solution: “Leave the wolf. Why do you have a wolf?”
