Lawmakers in the EU say they are planning on creating a nuclear European Superstate in the wake of Brexit and Donald Trump’s election victory. Leaders of the lower chambers of parliament of Germany, Italy, France, and Luxembourg published a letter demanding a “Federal Union” be implemented immediately. In the letter, published by Italian newspaper La Stampa on Sunday, EU leaders say that closer cooperation is essential for dealing with problems such as terrorism, immigration, and climate change – problems that they say no one single EU state can handle on their own.

In December 2016, Europol released a statement warning that ISIS was likely to soon enact plans to stage large scale terror attacks in multiple states across the EU. The operations have been planned since 2013 but are now being accelerated due to ISIS' territorial losses in the Middle East to coalition forces.

Two days ago, when describing the two opposing foreign policy tracks emerging within Trump's administration (which led to disappointment inside Russia, which was hoping for a more aggressive detente between Putin and Trump), we said that "there are two clear axes developing within the Trump administration: a Pence/Mattis/Haley foreign policy and a Trump/Bannon/Miller foreign policy."
