Indonesia: Woman Caned In Public For Being In Close Proximity To Man

In Indonesia men and women are being flogged in public for breaking strict Islamic laws. A 34-year-old woman screamed in agony Monday as she was caned in Indonesia’s Aceh province, where punishment for breaking Islamic Sharia law is severe. The woman was flogged in front of a cheering crowd for spending time in close proximity with a man that was not her husband.  The Nation reports: Aceh is the only province in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country that imposes sharia law. People can face floggings for a range of offences — from gambling, to drinking alcohol, to gay sex.

Army Corps Issues Closing Deadline To Standing Rock Protest Camp

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to close the anti-DAPL protest campsite at Standing Rock by Dec 5, in an attempt to “protect the public amid violent confrontations between protesters and law enforcement.” The Army Corps issued a letter Friday announcing plans to evict portion of federal land on which people have been camping for months to protest the Dakota Access oil pipeline. Hacker Who Exposed Ohio Rape, Faces More Jail Time Than Rapists

A Kentucky man who hacked into an online account for followers of a Ohio high school’s football team to expose the gang rape of a teenage girl has pleaded guilty to charges associated with the hack. Deric Lostutter, 29  pleaded guilty in federal court earlier this week to one count of conspiracy and one count of making false statements to law enforcement agents after hacking into a site for fans of the Steubenville High School football team, according to court records. He is facing a longer term than the rapists.
