We discuss how in general it is a very bad precedent for government officials to talk about the stock market, especially to in effect tie the performance of the stock market to how effective government policy is being handled or implemented in an administration. Especially given the high valuation market lead-in, this risk/reward scenario plays out very poorly for Trump.
President Trump’s defense secretary has said that he did not see possible military collaboration with Russia. “We are not in a position right now to collaborate on a military level” James Mattis told reporters on Thursday after talks at the NATO headquarters in Brussels. He accused Russia of violating international law, labeling their actions as “aggressive” and “destabilizing.” His comment are perhaps the strongest indication yet from the Trump administration that prospects for any significant cooperation between the U.S. and Russia against ISIS in Syria is unlikely anytime soon.
Anonymous intelligence officials claim that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's denial to The FBI in an interview last month that he had discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador is a lie and contradicts the contents of intercepted communications they have collected.
The Washington Post then gleefully suggests once again, this potentially puts Flynn in legal jeopardy.
It sounds outlandish from a plebeian point of view. But the question should be proffered: was the whole Flynn fiasco a ruse, getting the left and the media going crazy, chasing their tails over a non existent Russian conspiracy, an operation to expose disloyal leakers inside the administration and/or intelligence agencies?
A few things to consider.
