Manhunt Underway For Gunman Who Killed 39 At Istanbul Nightclub

A manhunt was underway for a gunman who opened fire on people at a packed nightclub on the shores of Istanbul's Bosphorus waterway on New Year's morning, killing at least 39 people, including 15 foreigners, then fled the scene.

The suspect escaped the scene by changing clothes at the club after the attack, according to reports on Turkish media. There have also been rumors that there was a second attacker, but officials are now just talking about one terrorist.

Whistleblower Clinton Foundation CEO Missing, Presumed Dead

Fears are growing over the whereabouts of Clinton Foundation CEO Eric Braverman after he went missing in October following accusations that he leaked the Podesta emails to WikiLeaks.  Some fear that Braverman may have been killed, since an email mentioning his name was released by WikiLeaks in which Clinton Campaign chair John Podesta accused the CEO of leaking details about corruption in the organisation to the press.

Barack Obama has recalled all 10 U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers from the Middle East, leaving the United States wide open to a potential attack.  For the next week, there will be no aircraft carriers stationed anywhere in the world for the first time since World War II. Superstation95.com reports: The carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and her strike group returned to Norfolk, Va., Friday following a seven-month deployment. The Ike launched hundreds of airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria from both the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf.

Happy New Year!  As we wrap up another successful year of the statistics blog (now with >50k followers), we would be remiss not to recognize some nice friends who are still feeling disappointed over the outcome of the recent U.S. election.  It is worth exploring a little more about the election results, based on the most updated voting records.  Particularly as the Democrats have pivoted the tête-à-tête from recount and FBI director Comey, to popular vote and Russian president Putin.
