Since Recep Tayyip Erdogan became the Turkish president 18 months ago nearly 2,000 cases have been opened against people accused of insulting him. Mocking or insulting the president carries a maximum of four years in jail and schoolchildren and journalists are amongst those who have been arrested. Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag, confirmed that the ministry had allowed 1,845 cases on charges of insulting Erdogan to proceed. More than 80,000 people are calling for the arrest and prosecution of former president Bill Clinton, alleging he violated election laws by entering multiple polling stations in Boston and other Massachusetts areas on Tuesday.
