Romero - a filmmaker hailed as the architect of the zombie genre - is dead at the age of 77, but the zombified police state culture he railed against lives on.

The US is weighing whether to impose sanctions on Venezuela’s defense minister and several other top officials for human-rights violations, according to Bloomberg, citing officials familiar with the government’s deliberations.
