Movie director Oliver Stone has slammed the Obama regime for deliberately spreading Cold War style propaganda about Russia, in a Facebook post published on Thursday.  As tensions between the U.S. government and Russia escalate over the dubious claim that Putin ordered the hacking of the recent U.S. presidential election, Stone urged for calm and clarity amid increasingly anti-Russian rhetoric in the media. Donald Trump’s senior aide Kellyanne Conway has denounced Barack Obama’s decision to impose harsh economic sanctions against Russia. Conway described the sanctions as “unprecedented” and that they may have been aimed at restricting Trump’s policy toward Russia, saying that Obama was trying to “box-in” his successor by issuing the sanctions with just weeks before leaving his presidency.

Obama has announced new sanctions on Russia based on unsubstantiated charges by the CIA that the Russian government influenced the outcome of the US presidential election with “malicious cyber-enabled activities.”

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a report “related to the declaration of 35 Russian officials persona non grata for malicious cyber activity and harassment.”

In the latest macro update from JPM's Adam Crisafuli, the strategist writes that the Trumpflation rally which more than doubled the market's YTD gains since the Trump election, has gotten ahead of itself and that "it seems like a lot of headwinds that have been accumulating below the surface for weeks are quietly moving to the fore."

The English language Russian news agency, Sputnik, reports that former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is advising US president-elect Donald Trump how to “bring the United States and Russia closer together to offset China’s military buildup.” 

If we take this report at face value, it tells us that Kissinger, an old cold warrior, is working to use Trump’s commitment to better relations with Russia in order to separate Russia from its strategic alliance with China.
