Israel Launches Cyber War Against Boycott Movement

Israel have vowed to launch a cyber war against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, threatening to monitor, track and thwart their activities online, as well as attack them with the latest tools.  Middleeastmonitor.com reports: Israel Hayom newspaper reported: “Israel is facing a campaign to de-legitimise it. It penetrates into a certain extent; up to the secretary-general of the United Nations,” noting that it is a new battle in its “own stadium: the cyber space”.

Microsoft To Automatically Install Windows 10 On Older Computers

For some time now Microsoft has recommended the option for a free upgrade to Windows 10, to Windows 7 and 8.1 users. Windows update will soon start automatically upgrading older machines to Windows 10 if the update is not turned off. Slash Gear reports: Not long ago, Microsoft started issuing notifications twice per day, telling users that they should upgrade their system. Apparently that’s not been effective enough, as the company has decided to go ahead and make Windows 10 a “recommended” upgrade, through Windows Update.

Google To Show Wrong Search Results To Combat Terrorism

A senior Google executive has announced that the search giant will start delivering the wrong search results to jihadi sympathizers as a counter-terrorism measure. The Daily Mail reports: As part of a pilot scheme, the search engine will show anti-radicalisation links when would-be jihadists type in words related to extremism. The announcement was made by Dr Anthony House, a senior Google executive, while giving evidence to MPs in the UK parliament. ‘We are working on counter-narratives around the world.

Facebook App Is A Drain On Smartphone Batteries

Users of Facebook’s Android app are being warned that it could be responsible for a reduced performance of their smartphones and a big drain on battery life. The Daily Star reports: Tests have revealed that when Facebook is installed on Android phones they can run up to 15% slower. One Facebook fan has now taken to Reddit to reveal the findings which show a huge difference in performance when the social media app is ditched. The test involved launching 15 popular apps in succession with each loading much faster when Facebook wasn’t installed on the phone.
