Jill Stein In Senate Crosshairs For "Collusion With The Russians"

Step aside Tovarish Trump, it's time for Comrade Stein.

Seemingly unable to deliver the finishing blow in the Trump Russian collusion probe, the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election is now seeking documents from Green Party candidate Jill Stein over what Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) characterized as "collusion with the Russians," reports Buzzfeed.

Dennis Trainor Jr., who worked for the Stein campaign from January to August of 2015, says Stein contacted him on Friday saying the Senate Intelligence Committee had requested that the campaign comply with a document search.

Trainor, who served as the campaign’s communications director and acting manager during that time, told BuzzFeed News that he was informed of the committee’s request because during his time on the campaign, his personal cell phone was “a primary point of contact” for those looking to reach Stein or the campaign. That included producers from RT News, the Russian state-funded media company, who booked Stein for several appearances, Trainor said.

Trainor says Stein told him to wait for further instructions, adding that the Stein campaign would be in contact over the next week after receiving instructions, presumably from the Senate Intelligence Committee. The former campaign aide said he believes Stein plans to fully cooperate with the investigation, and will post the documents to her website "in an effort to show complete transparency and kind of wage her own war against [...] what I imagine she thinks is an overblown investigation into collusion."

Senator Burr said that the committee is "just starting" on the task of investigating two campaigns, but did not elaborate.

Michael Flynn, Vladimir Putin, Jill Stein Attend RT Dinner

Stein attended a 2015 dinner hosted by RT in Moscow where she was, drumroll please, sitting at the same table as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Michael Flynn, Trump's National Security Advisor of 24 days until his dismissal for lying to Vice President Mike Pence. Flynn recently pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

In a July letter to Donald Trump Jr., the Senate Judiciary brought up Stein's name in a request for "all communications to, from, or copied" to the President's son having to do with Stein, however Trainor said he would be surprised if Stein ever communicated with Trump jr.

Stein maintains her attendance at the RT dinner was different from Flynn's in that she was not paid to be there, and covered her own travel costs.

According to Buzzfeed, Trainor said he believes the committee is primarily interested in Stein’s appearances on RT, “vilifying anyone who’s ever appeared on or talked with anyone on the RT network," adding “There’s a lot of smoke around RT and not a lot of fire."

Former Clinton Campaign staffer Zac Petkanas - who was tapped in January to lead a "war room" effort described as a "constant campaign" over Trump-Russia allegations, can barely contain himself:

Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept notes the kneejerk McCarthyist response from leading Democrats over the Stein document request:

So - according to the Democrats, Russia helped Donald Trump win the election, while Jill Stein - who spent the better part of a month pushing for a recount last November which could only hurt Trump, also colluded with the Russians. Perhaps her KGB Russian was a little rusty and she misunderstood her handler's instructions?

And with that, we are taking reader submissions of who will be the next prominent politician to be "exposed" as a Russian agent by the US political apparatus, still scrambling over a year later, to "explain" Hillary's loss by blaming the Kremlin's revolutionary middle class mind-control technology.
