Not 'The Onion' - Hillary Clinton Is Now Running On Her Foreign Policy "Strengths"

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

When it comes to watching the Hillary Clinton campaign, you need to be prepared for increasingly suicidal and irrational acts of desperation. While the most pathetic of all her shameless acts was saying she is sponsored by Wall Street as a result of the terror attacks on 9/11, the hits just keep on coming.

In her latest scheme, the Clinton campaign released a letter signed by former national security officials warning the American public that Bernie Sanders isn’t ready to be Commander in Chief (i.e., he will not sufficiently defend the status quo). While obviously absurd to any thinking person, most Hillary Clinton supporters are not thinking people.

Moreover, her move brings up a key point that I mentioned repeatedly on Twitter during Sunday night’s debate, which is that Sanders wasn’t hitting Clinton hard enough on her unabashed militarism and string of debacles while Secretary of State. Foreign policy is an issue on which she is as vulnerable as she is on Wall Street, yet Sanders either doesn’t get it, or isn’t using it for some reason.

A perfect example of her foreign policy incompetence was support for the overthrow of Qaddafi in Libya, as well as a related interview in which she brags about killing him by saying: “We Came, We Saw, He Died.” Meanwhile, Libya has become a humanitarian disaster, a failed state, and a haven for ISIS. For example, take these excerpts from the post, Revisiting the Incredible Disaster That Is Libya:

In retrospect, Obama’s intervention in Libya was an abject failure, judged even by its own standards. Libya has not only failed to evolve into a democracy; it has devolved into a failed state. Violent deaths and other human rights abuses have increased severalfold. Rather than helping the United States combat terrorism, as Qaddafi did during his last decade in power, Libya now serves as a safe haven for militias affiliated with both al Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). The Libya intervention has harmed other U.S. interests as well: undermining nuclear nonproliferation, chilling Russian cooperation at the UN, and fueling Syria’s civil war.?

As bad as Libya’s human rights situation was under Qaddafi, it has gotten worse since NATO ousted him. Immediately after taking power, the rebels perpetrated scores of reprisal killings, in addition to torturing, beating, and arbitrarily detaining thousands of suspected Qaddafi supporters. The rebels also expelled 30,000 mostly black residents from the town of Tawergha and burned or looted their homes and shops, on the grounds that some of them supposedly had been mercenaries. Six months after the war, Human Rights Watch declared that the abuses “appear to be so widespread and systematic that they may amount to crimes against humanity.”?

As a consequence of such pervasive violence, the UN estimates that roughly 400,000 Libyans have fled their homes, a quarter of whom have left the country altogether.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why Sanders isn’t crushing her on this issue. After all, Hillary Clinton running on her foreign policy strength is akin to Hitler saying to vote for him because of the experience he gained by invading Russia.

In any event, here’s what her campaign is up to. From the Wall Street Journal:

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign on Tuesday released a letter signed by 10 former U.S. diplomats and foreign policy officials charging that her rival Sen. Bernie Sanders is ill-prepared to step in and serve as commander in chief.

The letter escalates the former secretary of state’s attack on the Vermont senator, seeking to cast him as naïve and out of his depth when it comes to combating terrorism and steering the U.S. through complicated foreign policy challenges in the Middle East and beyond.

It aims to draw attention to what the Clinton campaign sees as a shortcoming in Mr. Sanders’s resume — a lack of foreign policy experience.

I see, apparently he doesn’t have enough blood on his hands to be President.

In response, the Sanders campaign issued a statement saying Mrs. Clinton may have more experience, but Mr. Sanders has better “judgment” when it comes to foreign policy.

He cited Mrs. Clinton’s vote as a U.S. senator in 2002 authorizing the invasion of Iraq. Mr. Sanders voted against the war.

But hey…
