The Syrian army continue to successfully defeat ISIS around the Turkish countryside, according to Iran’s news agency FARS. As the battle against ISIS militants continues in the Middle East, the Syrian government have made huge gains against the terrorists in the suburbs of Damascus and surrounding areas. Sputniknews.com reports: “The militant groups’ fortified positions in Zamalka in the northeastern outskirts of Damascus came under a massive offensive of the Syrian army and its allies,” military sources told FARS. Syrian government forces also carried out assaults on jihadists’ positions in the suburban towns of al-Reihan, al-Nashabiyah, Ein Tarma and Jobar. “The pro-government forces killed or wounded many terrorists and destroyed their military hardware,” the Syrian Army sources reported. “The Syrian forces’ attack on al-Nusra Front’s gatherings in Ein Tarma in the east of Damascus killed dozens of the terrorists, including a Yemeni and two of the group’s field commanders.” In addition to attacks by ground forces, the Syrian Air Force carried out several airstrikes on terrorist targets in the east and northeast of Damascus.
