Can you believe it? We’re in the last year of the presidency of the man who, on his first day in the Oval Office, swore that he would close Guantánamo, and yet it and everything it represents remains part of our all-American world. So many years later, you can still read news reports on the ongoing nightmares of that grim prison, ranging from detention without charge to hunger strikes and force feeding. Its name still echoes through the halls of Congress in bitter debate over what should or shouldn’t be done with it. It remains a global symbol of the worst America has to offer.

President Barack Obama is meeting his top national security officials at the CIA today to come up with a plan to deprive the Islamic State in Syria of land and power. The endgame in Syria is approaching as the fragile peace talks continue. President Obama must decide to either have a military plan for the total defeat of ISIS in the region, thus giving Kurds more power and angering the Turks, or to maintain the current Status quo.

Bradley Birkenfeld is the most significant financial whistleblower of all time, so you might think he’d be cheering on the disclosures in the new Panama Papers leaks. But today, Birkenfeld is raising questions about the source of the information that is shaking political regimes around the world.

 

“The CIA I’m sure is behind this, in my opinion,” Birkenfeld said.

 

The American Media Is A CIA Front

I reported honestly the facts of the US coup that overthrew the elected Ukrainian government in 2014 (see my columns in February and March 2014). However, the US print and TV media, led by the New York Times, lied through their teeth.

Indeed, the “mainstream” US media functioned as agent and propagandist for the Washington neoconservatives who destroyed Ukrainian democracy and imposed massive suffering and death on Ukrainians.

There is no crime that the American presstitutes will not commit and no lie that they will not tell.
