Tories Scrap Free Meals For Nearly 3,000 Infant Schools
Ministers have withdrawn the funding which enabled smaller infant schools to provide children with free hot meals, claiming the measures were “always temporary.” Special cash grants for nearly 3,000 schools will end without being renewed next month The funding had been a help to infant schools with fewer than 150 pupils, many in rural areas, because their small size meant they could not buy bulk food cheaply enough to fit their budgets.
