Having crushed the "greatest global threat" over the weekend with a "bullshit" deal, President Obama turns his attention back to that other thing... the war on terror. In a statement which will, in The White House's words, "update the nation on the US campaign to Degrade and Destroy ISIL," Obama will, we are sure, explain why they didn't bomb ISIS' oil facilities, why they are still allies with Saudi Arabia, why Russia's "success" is just propaganda, and how awesome the US-based coalition is (as opposed to the bad guys, which includes Putin).

ubio wants the U.S. to take more aggressive steps against Russia in Ukraine. He would send more arms and more aid to the corrupt Ukrainian government, virtually insuring an escalating war in the region. He'd move U.S. troops to Russia's border and increase sanctions on Russia. He does not explain why a harsh confrontation with Russia is in the U.S. interest.

Neera Tanden's Democratic Party is also owned on a key foreign policy question by a Jim Crow faction, the Israel lobby, but the Party's own liberal base is rebelling against that ownership. The Democratic base wants Palestinians and Muslims to have basic civil rights in Israel and Palestine; and it is becoming restless inside the party, and our country too.

Judging by his prime-time speech last week, the final year of Barack Obama’s presidency will be marked by increased militarism abroad and authoritarianism at home. The centerpiece of the president’s speech was his demand for a new law forbidding anyone on the federal government’s terrorist watch list from purchasing a firearm. There has never been a mass shooter who was on the terrorist watch list, so this proposal will not increase security. However, it will decrease liberty.

The 21 international climate summits that have been held over the decades have produced nothing but empty rhetoric, false promises and rising carbon emissions. Paris was no different. We must physically obstruct the extraction, transportation and refining of fossil fuels or face extinction. This is a war waged between the forces of life and the forces of death. It is a war we must not lose.
