As the national opioid crisis rages in the midwest and along the northern and mid-Atlantic states, Cuyahoga County has reported yet another disturbing statistic about the growing death toll from one of America’s most pressing health crises: Last year, deaths from drug overdoses in the county – the bulk of which were caused by powerful synthetic opioids like fentanyl – surpassed deaths from homicides, suicides and car crashes combined.

Amtrak’s Penn Station in New York City, once one of the most glorious cathedrals of commerce built by one of the most successful transportation companies in history, is collapsing. Tracks are in disrepair. That’s because they have not been properly maintained over decades since Amtrak, despite promises to the contrary at its founding in the 1970s, has consistently lost tons of money.

America's dying malls have been a frequent topic for us over the past couple of years.  And, with the S&P soaring to new highs each and every day while completely shaking off a swath of retail bankruptcies that have left malls with no option but to fill their empty spaces with high schools, doctors offices and grocery stores, you can imagine our intrigue.
