Quaker Oats Sued For Including Glyphosate In “100% Natural” Products

Quaker Oats are facing a lawsuit following lab tests that found traces of the Monsanto herbicide glyphosate in its products.  The lawsuit, seeking class-action status, says that the company uses false marketing tactics in claiming that their products are “100% natural”. RT.com reports: “Defendant aggressively advertises and promotes its oatmeal products as ‘100% Natural,’ and claims its oats are grown using ‘eco-friendly’ methods that pose ‘less risk of pollutants and groundwater pollution,'” the lawsuit says.

Dannon Yogurt Remove GMO Ingredients

Yogurt company Dannon are making changes to their ingredients list ahead of the July 1st deadline for Vermont’s new labeling law. The new law requires GMO ingredients to be marked on any food product sold in the state.  Dannon has decided to switch to more natural ingredients as a result of this law change. Nationofchange.org reports: The most important ingredient that will be affected is a huge one – milk. The company made an official announcement last week: For the company’s foundation ingredient—milk—Dannon is going one big step further.

Three months ago the Fed released its Fourth Quarter "Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices", which revealed something ominous. It showed that in Q4, lending standards tightened for the second consecutive quarter. This was a problem because as Deutsche Bank pointed out at the time two consecutive quarters of tightening Commercial & Industrial loan standards "has never happened before without it signalling an eventual move into recession and a notable default cycle.
