A Turkish MP has confirmed that military forces in Turkey have “burned alive” over 150 Kurds trapped in basements in Turkey’s southeast.  Feleknas Ucatold, a member of the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (PKK), claims: “In the Cizre district of Sırnak, around 150 people have been burned alive in different buildings by Turkish military forces. Some corpses were found without heads. Some were burned completely, so that autopsy is not possible“.

I haven’t had this much fun in years – of course I’m talking about the US presidential election season, with The Donald taking on all comers, and winning (at least so far), and Bernie Sanders burning up the self-satisfied mandarins of the Democratic party Establishment.

What’s great about this spectacle – and one must view it as a spectacle in order to gain maximum enjoyment from it – is that, as none other than Rush Limbaugh points out:

Republicans are fond of emphasizing that the party was founded by Lincoln, who freed the slaves. But the GOP’s role in the history of civil rights is even richer than the Great Emancipator. If Republicans can remember this legacy, perhaps there is some hope that the party might again attract the black voters who have felt unwelcome in its ranks for decades.

Neera Tanden's Democratic Party is also owned on a key foreign policy question by a Jim Crow faction, the Israel lobby, but the Party's own liberal base is rebelling against that ownership. The Democratic base wants Palestinians and Muslims to have basic civil rights in Israel and Palestine; and it is becoming restless inside the party, and our country too.
