Donald Trump hasn’t yet made the move from Trump Tower to America’s most expensive public housing, but he was able to come through with one campaign promise this week by announcing a deal with Indiana-based Carrier Air Conditioning that will keep almost 1,000 jobs in the state. As reported, the deal seems largely focused on the State of Indiana offering millions in tax breaks and an understanding that the Trump administration will push for regulatory and corporate tax relief at the Federal level.

Coming off the the "Thank Your Tour" that got started yesterday with stops in Indiana and Ohio, Vice President-Elect Mike Pence sat down with the Wall  Street Journal to discuss the new administration's aggressive plans for the first 100 days in office.  Pence said the new team plans for a "burst of activity" right out of the gate and said "the only thing that will surprise them is that Washington, D.C., is going to get an awful lot done in a short period of time."

Emboldened by his "victory" with Carrier Corp, which agreed to keep 1,100 workers in the US instead of outsourcing them to Mexico in exchange for $7 million in tax incentives over 10 years, as part of his victory tour in Indiana, Donald Trump on Thursday warned that U.S. companies will face "consequences" for outsourcing jobs overseas.

"Companies are not going to leave the United States any more without consequences. Not going to happen," the President-elect said on a visit to a Carrier Corp plant in Indianapolis cited by Reuters.

After securing a deal to save 1,100 jobs at a Carrier plant in Indiana from being exported to Mexico, Trump is set to kick off his Midwest "Thank You Tour" with a speech there which is expected to get started around 2pm EST.

In light of today's visit by President-elect Trump to Indiana to take credit for saving some 1,100 Carrier jobs from being offshored to Mexico, a recurring question is what was the Trump quid to Carrier's pro quo to get the deal done.
