Seattle Sues Monsanto For Poisoning Citizens

Monsanto faces a multi-million dollar lawsuit from the state of Seattle over claims that the agrochemical giant are poisoning citizens and wildlife.  According to Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, PCBs used by Monsanto have polluted “every waterway in the state,” posing a massive health problem to residents. Seattletimes.com reports: Monsanto was the sole producer of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) for commercial use in the U.S.

A ten-year-old schoolgirl is fighting for her life after a group of men set her on fire and threw her into a dry well for resisting rape in Jharkhand, India. Hindustan Times reports: Police have registered attempt to rape and murder charges against two men who are missing and have detained five suspects for questioning. The Class 4 girl, whose father is a daily-wager, was playing outside her home in Seraikela-Kharsawan district’s Kandra village on Wednesday morning when two men tried to lure her with sweets.

CNN Sued For Racist Discrimination Against Its Black Employees

CNN is being sued by former black employees who say the giant news organisation routinely discriminates workers based on the color of their skin.  A multi-million dollar class action lawsuit has been launched by former and current employees, claiming that CNN, Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner discriminate black employees. Dailycaller.com reports: Filed on behalf of two black employees, Celeslie Henley and Ernest Colbert Jr, the lawsuit alleges that black employees were paid less and had fewer opportunities for promotions.
