A Catholic priest who had been forced to resign after clergy in his church were charged with sex abuse, has been appointed assistant priest at a church in Minnesota. The then Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis resigned from his position, amid the clergy sex abuse scandal last year. Press TV reports: Saint Philip Roman Catholic church in Kalamazoo announced this week that it had appointed John Nienstedt, the former archbishop of St Paul and Minneapolis, to assist the parish while its head pastor dealt with medical issues.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are creating their own private armies equipped with military-style equipment, in order to enforce compliance of their regulations against non-compliant U.S. citizens.  Farmers can now be subjected to military raids by the EPA if they find the farmers to be in violation of their policies.

A murder investigation is under way in Florence after Italian police found the body of a 35-year-old American woman in her apartment. Ashley Ann Olsen was found dead with strangulation marks on her neck in her bedroom by her boyfriend, on Saturday. Olsen was well known in Florence’s artistic neighborhoods. The Guardian reports: Her body was discovered on Saturday after Olsen’s Italian boyfriend asked her landlady to open her apartment because she wasn’t responding to his calls, the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera reported.
