Last week, when we reported on the latest clashes between French police and protesters in the ongoing labor reform saga, we said that "police used tear gas to disperse thousands of angry activists across the nation, who are protesting new labor reforms." According to the proposed reform states, employers would pay only 10% of overtime bonus, instead of the current 25%, making local workers understandably angry.

Thousands Protest In France Calling For Revolution

Thousands of protestors have taken to the streets of Paris demanding a “general revolution” amid a continued ‘state of emergency’ in France.  A variety of protestors, ranging from parents, students, workers, artists and pensioners,  have set-up camp in around the Place de la République square for over a week – and the government are beginning to panic. Theguardian.com reports: Called Nuit debout, which loosely means “rise up at night”, the protest movement is increasingly being likened to the Occupy initiative that mobilised hundreds of thousands of people in 2011 or Spain’s Indignados.

Huge Explosion In Central Paris

Several streets were evacuated following a huge gas explosion in a residential building in the centre of Paris. Smoke was seen rising above an apartment block in the middle of the city shortly after 12.30pm local time Friday (11.30am UK time). BREAKING: Huge explosion in Paris, according to reports pic.twitter.com/cnTchMkqBu — Scott Campbell (@scottcampbell) April 1, 2016 The explosion reportedly took place not far from Montparnasse, on the left bank of the river Seine, and close to Ferrandi college According to local media the explosion was triggered by a severed gas pipe.
