Fear finally made its way into the equity options market at the end of last week – at least for a day.
After months of (well-documented) investor complacency, recent stock turbulence has begun to introduce some fear back into the market. It has been manifested in the volatility market, as we covered extensively in our Vexing Vix miniseries last week. And after last Thursday’s sharp selloff, fear has now also crept into the options market – at least for a day.
According to a new book, Hillary Clinton said that the 2016 presidential election was her "last race" after it became apparent she lost.
The Hill's Amie Parnes and Sidewire's Jonathan Allen write in "Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign" that on the night of the 2016 election, the former Democratic presidential nominee looked through the draft of her concession speech.
“Look, I really just want to concede gracefully, wish him the best, thank everybody, and get off the stage,” she said.
European stocks slide as traders returned from a 4-day Easter holidays, Asian equities likewise drop pressured by the ongoing rout in iron ore, while U.S. stock-index futures point to a lower open. British markets were roiled after U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May said she would seek an early election on June 8, in a move aimed at strengthening her hand going into Brexit talks; the FTSE 100 dropped 1.3%, on the news, hitting the lowest since Feb. 24 while 10Y Gilts dropped below 1% for the first time since October.
