After the Brexit referendum, more EU citizens are leaving Britain, while less Europeans are coming in. As the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show, 2016 brought 84,000 less migrants, compared to the previous year. Statista's Fabian Moebus points out that the net migration of 248,000 people is the lowest number of yearly newcomers in over three years.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on Sunday condemned a vivid example of reverse racism, when she called for a black feminist festival in the French capital to be banned, saying it was "prohibited to white people." The first edition of the Nyansapo Festival, due to run from July 28 to 30 at a cultural center in Paris, bills itself as "an event rooted in blackfeminism, activism, and on (a) European scale."

In the late 1760s and early 1770s, the government of France was in a deep panic.
They had recently suffered a disastrous and costly defeat in the Seven Years War, and the national budget was a complete mess.
France had spent most of the previous century as the world’s dominant superpower, and the government budget reflected that status.
