In an open letter to outgoing Pomona College President David Oxtoby, a group of self-identified black students from the Claremont Colleges assail the president for, of all things, affirming Pomona’s commitment to free speech, a concept which they argue simply allows "hegemonic institutions" who seek to "perpetuate systems of domination a platform to project their bigotry."

Many Americans discovered they don’t owe the government a dime.
More than four in 10 American households (44.3%) — or upwards of 76 million — didn’t pay any income tax to the federal government last year, according to data for 2016 from the Tax Policy Center. This year that number is expected to be roughly the same, at 43.9%.
It used to be that Arizona State University was best known for it's consistent top 10 placement in Playboy's annual "Top Party School" rankings. The rankings worked wonders for ASU's various educational and athletic recruiting programs...for whatever reason...
But, the actions of one reckless professor, Angeles Maldonado, could undo decades of hard work put in by ASU co-eds to establish their school as an institution of unparalleled 'talent'.
We spend a lot of time writing about public pensions because the aggregate underfunding levels, $3 - $5 trillion on the low end, are simply staggering and at some point they will be realized for the ponzi schemes that they are and the systemic risk they represent to the global financial system. Until then we'll just keep shouting into the abyss.
