California Fault Lines Are "Locked, Loaded, & Ready" For The Big One, Expert Warns

The San Andreas fault is one of California's most dangerous. While the last big earthquake to strike the southern San Andreas was in 1857, as LA Times reports Thomas Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center, explained this week "the springs on the San Andreas system have been wound very, very tight. And the southern San Andreas fault, in particular, looks like it’s locked, loaded and ready to go."

LA Gas Leak ‘Destabilises’, Officials Fear Catastrophic Explosion

Southern California Gas Corporation have said that current efforts to plug the enormous methane gas leak in Porter Ranch, California are destabilizing the situation and risking a bigger “blowout” at the facility.  A blowout would increase the already dangerous levels of methane in the air that millions of Californian’s breathe in, in a way that “could be catastrophic,” the Public Utility Commission say.

California Finally Declares Emergency Over Los Angeles Gas Leak

Governor Jerry Brown has finally declared a State of Emergency for the gas leak in Porter Ranch, southern California. It is the largest gas leak ever recorded, where a blown-out well has been spewing record amounts of methane gas since October last year. Environmental activist and lawyer Erin Brockovich says it is one of the most significant environmental disasters in recent history. Governor Brown has asked for expediency in plugging the well after the plug was left out by Southern California Gas Company.
