Neil Gorsuch Officially Confirmed To The Supreme Court

Update: After weeks of endless rhetoric and party bickering over the controversial usage of the 'nuclear option', Neil Gorsuch has officially been confirmed to the Supreme Court of the United States with a largely partisan vote of 54-45.

Following a series of procedural votes yesterday to invoke the so-called 'nuclear option', the Senate is expected to vote shortly to confirm Neil Gorsuch as the 113th justice to serve on the Supreme Court.

As we previewed last Friday when Senator Clair McCaskill's "No" decision was seen by many "whip counts" as the decisive "final" vote, moments ago Senate Democrats clinched enough support to block Neil Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court, in the process setting up what now appears an inevitable "nuclear" showdown over Senate rules later this week.

McCaskill To Oppose Gorsuch, Virtually Assuring Use Of "Nuclear Option"

Senator Claire McCaskill said she will join the Democrats attempted filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and will not vote for him, making it almost certain that Republicans will have to trigger the “nuclear option” to confirm President Trump’s first Supreme Court nominee.

The Missouri Democrat announced Friday in a post on Medium, faulting the nominee for “a stunning lack of humanity.”
