Nothing makes me dig in my heels like dishonesty. I don’t care how good a cause is. If someone is lying to get support, they don’t deserve it. They end up doing more damage to their cause with their dishonest tactics.

Here’s the thing, I love the environment. Spending an afternoon kayaking or a weekend hiking are some of my favorite activities. I don’t want to breathe in smog, and I want to be able to swim in the rivers. I love animals too. I don’t want their environment to be destroyed, and I don’t want them to choke on trash.

Sometimes, being too trusting can be a fatal mistake - especially in diplomacy - as one member of the Australian delegation at the United Nations learned early Wednesday morning, when he plunged to his death from his Manhattan balcony during a night of boozing with friends and his wife. The circumstances of Julian Simpson’s death are bizarre, considering that he died during a “trust game” gone wrong, according to the New York Post.

On Tuesday Iran slammed Saudi and US claims that it was supplying Yemen's Houthi rebels with advanced ballistic missiles that Saudi Arabia says targeted Riyadh international airport on Saturday - which would be a violation of a UN resolution which ensures conformity to the Iran nuclear deal.

Award winning journalist and UN correspondent of 25 years, Joe Lauria, penned an outstanding article on the origins of “Russiagate” which he published to the liberal Huffington Post this week.

24 hours later, HuffPo yanked the article – leaving a dead link and a sad message in its place.

Among the many self-flattering epithets it gives itself, the US has always claimed to be the “leader of the free world”. It’s a rather patronizing notion that America views itself as a selfless protector and benefactor of its European allies and others. This fairytale depiction of the world is coming to a rude awakening as American power buffets against the reality of a multi-polar world.
