The US Geological Survey has reported a magnitude 6.5  earthquake off the coast of Northern California The quake occurred in the Pacific Ocean about 100 miles off the coast of Eureka at around 6:50 a.m. on Thursday. The epicentre was 165km west of Ferndale, California, at a shallow depth of 10km ((6.2 miles) below sea level. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning was issued. Earlier reports from the USGS said the earthquake was a magnitude 6.8 Two quakes of more than 4.0-magnitude have shaken California in the last week.

The US led coalition conducted a “precision strike”  on a hospital in the Iraqi city of Mosul,  after saying its Iraqi allies had came under fire by ISIS fighters from the hospital complex. According to the US Central Command (Centcom), the airstrike targeted a building within the al-Salem hospital complex from where ISIS had launched heavy machine gun and rocket-propelled grenade fire on Iraqi forces. The coalition did not say if any patients or civilians were present at the scene of the airstrike.

A strategy of holding cash and buying any 5% dip in S&P until markets retrace the loss has outperformed the S&P consistently since 2014, but as BofAML warns, the changes in inflation market dynamics post-Trump may "handcuff" The Fed and pull a key support out of the market that helped create the "buy the dip" trade.
