Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake Strikes Central Australia

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Australia some 460 kilometers southwest of the town of Alice Springs in the country’s Northern Territory. The quake hit at 3:54 am local time. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. The USGS originally reported the earthquake as being magnitude 6.2 There have not been any reports of casualties or destruction so far. Details to follow
