Email Reveals Michigan Official Faked Lead Tests 8 Years Ago

A recently leaked email from 2008 reveals that an official from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) attempted to fake the results of lead tests conducted on the Michigan water supply, in order for the water to be declared safe for public consumption.  Adam Rosenthal tried to artificially lower the lead count numbers in an official report, so that the community would not have to be notified about the danger drinking water posed to their health.

Redacted emails released Wednesday by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder show that his administration was informed of problems with Flint’s water almost a year ago, many months before the embattled governor or his staff begrudgingly admitted to bearing any responsibility for poisoning a city — or for fixing the problem.
