“Fake news” vexed the media classes greatly in 2016, but the tech world perfected the art long ago. With “the internet” no longer a credible vehicle for Silicon Valley’s wild fantasies and intellectual bullying of other industries – the internet clearly isn’t working for people – “AI” has taken its place.

Almost everything you read about AI is fake news. The AI coverage comes from a media willing itself into the mind of a three year old child, in order to be impressed.

Management at the world’s largest hedge fund is to be automated and replaced with artificial intelligence. A computer software algorithm will decide the day-to-day management at Bridgewater Associates LP, the world’s largest hedge-fund firm. The global labour force is being replaced and managed by artificial intelligence and robotic automation. Various estimates suggest the American employment mill could shrink by 30% by the year 2025. The United Nations’ assessment is even grimmer. They project two-thirds of the human workforce will be replaced in the next decade.

The world’s first robot doctor has been unveiled in the UK, and medical authorities have said they are keen to put the machine straight to work.  The artificial intelligence (AI) doctor will take part in a contest with a real human doctor in order to test which one of them can deal more efficiently with diagnosing common health problems among patients. The results of the contest could have a significant impact on the future of healthcare in the UK and abroad.

Colonel Sanders is raising a robot army to serve fried chicken at a restaurant near you. KFC’s first automated restaurant, called Original+, went live in Shanghai on April 25th, complete with an artificially intelligent robot manager named “Du Mi” who works at the front counter.

Two months ago, Stephen Hawking warned humanity that its days may be numbered: the physicist was among over 1,000 artificial intelligence experts who signed an open letter about the weaponization of robots and the ongoing "military artificial intelligence arms race."

Overnight we got a vivid example of just how quickly "artificial intelligence" can spiral out of control when Microsoft's AI-powered Twitter chat robot, Tay, became a racist, misogynist, Obama-hating, antisemitic, incest and genocide-promoting psychopath when released into the wild.
